It is no secret stainless steel is a high quality material for barbecue grills. It thrives in an outdoor setting like your back patio, due to properties like corrosion resistance, lasting durability and strength. You cannot, though, rest on your laurels too much with a stainless steel BBQ grill. If you fail to clean it, you undermine the benefits provided by its stainless steel sheet material.
Fortunately, stainless steel sheet metal is nowhere near as difficult to clean and maintain as other materials such as granite or wood. You should clean your grill after each use so it becomes a habit you don’t think about. This helps it live up to its reputation of a long lifespan and excellent quality. To clean your grill properly, you need warm water, a cloth, and mild detergent or baking soda.
For grease or grime that is burnt on, you will need to approach the problem more aggressively. Start by sprinkling a little baking soda or detergent on the area. Then, dampen the area with the warm water and let it sit for a few hours. When you return, use the cloth to remove the gunk, and rinse with more warm water. Alternatively, you may use a grill brush instead of a cloth. Repeat the process until the grill is cleaned to your satisfaction, and then dry it with paper towels. For routine cleanings, do the same thing, with a time span of five minutes instead of hours.
